ASPIRUS FITNESS CENTER
YOU CAN SUPPORT HODAG TRADITION!
Project VisionWe are looking to transform our high school weight room into a state-of-the-art performance and training center that elevates our Hodag students and athletes while maximizing the existing space. The revitalized space will help us accomplish our vision through enhanced programming, increased speed, and utilizing cutting edge equipment.
What is the need.... Physical Education Class Currently we offer an Athletic Performance Class that is open to all students at Rhinelander High School. Currently we offer 9 classes in a semester and we only have an 8 period day. Currently we have 2 classes that are in the Aspirus Fitness Center together. The average class size to get all the students into this course is around 40 students. With the combined classes we get up to 77 students. At the current time the two teachers have to condense the work outs for the overloaded classes. Strength training helps build muscle, improve bone density, enhance cardiovascular health, and boost mental well-being. Establishing these habits during high school is crucial because it sets a foundation for a healthy lifestyle that can last a lifetime. Incorporating strength training as a class ensures that all students have access to proper guidance and instruction from a qualified strength coach, reducing the risk of injury and teaching them correct techniques. This structured environment encourages consistency, discipline, and a positive attitude towards fitness, empowering students to prioritize their health now and into the future. Our current weight room lacks the necessary storage and functionality to utilize new developments in the strength and fitness industry to push our students and athletes to the next level. Our new layout would provide optimized space, better storage, better machines, new flooring, better flow to the space, and most importantly the amount of equipment needed to train our athletes. |

The Advantages...
Testimonials from other schools I’ve seen firsthand how the weight room transforms lives. It’s not just about building strength. It’s where young men and women learn discipline, accountability, and the value of hard work. A well-equipped weight room levels the playing field, giving every student the chance to grow., regardless of their sport or background. It creates leaders, boosts confidence, and builds a foundation for lifelong health. The weight room is the heartbeat of any successful athletic program. ~Tony Biolo - 1988 Hodag Alumni, WHSPA Hall of Fame Coach 2017, WFCA Hall of Fame Coach 2021 |
Testimonials and Endorsements...The Lamers Family
The weight room has been a game-changer in the lives of our four children, both on and off the field. The countless unseen hours they dedicated to training built more than just physical strength—it instilled discipline, confidence, and a relentless work ethic. Each of them has used the weight room not just to get stronger, but to become better athletes, better teammates, and more focused individuals. Their success in high school sports is a direct result of learning how to train the right way—intentionally, consistently, and with purpose. That foundation has opened doors to potential college opportunities and has prepared them for the demands of life beyond athletics. The weight room taught them that nothing great comes without hard work, and that lesson will serve them well for years to come. ~ Kersti and Bart Lamers and family Drake Martin Having access to a top tier weight room at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater shaped who I was on the field and who I am today as a person.
